About
I am an anthrozoologist and artist specialising in human-equine relationships.
I am particularly interested in how humans have 'normalised' many questionable areas in which we use equines in different cultural contexts.
My background is founded in 'equestrianism,' having ridden horses since I was four and competing in the Pony club and going on to take my British Horse Society Instructors exams.
I often questioned my relationships with the ponies I cared for, many of whom had previously suffered trauma. I later studied equine behaviour and psychology and trained with Monty Roberts 'horse whispering' in the USA. I was part of a development team to set up his international courses. I spent many years working with Mexican horse people training in the USA, Argentinian horse people, and Gauchos in polo in the UK and Argentina.
Most countries use equines for different reasons and purposes, and different cultures view the ways they use horses very diversely. Through spending time with people from other cultures, I became interested in indigenous law, the 'law of the land' and the theories of entanglement and empathy for 'nature' and other beings.
For many years I worked with traumatised equines and their 'owners' while caring for my own family of horses and donkeys.
I love to spend time with them, listening to the sounds of the countryside together.
While studying for an MA in anthrozoology at the University of Exeter, I began researching the dark economies of the equestrian world. Such as; slaughtering for meat and skin, extracting hormones from pregnant mares for HRT, exploiting equines in pornography on the dark web, sexual abuse, and colonialism.

Aside from my equestrian pursuits, I also have a passion for art and music. I studied at art college specialising in body painting, studying tribal art and sculpture. I also dabbled in D-Jing and loved mixing and producing breakbeats and drum and bass. I am a drum and bass head! I also love sacred geometry and am a resident poet with the Ashdown forest poets. I am an Ovate level druid and have been part of the Kingley Vale order of druids for 15 years. I love travelling alone to quiet places such as Siberia and Mongolia, the mountains of Romania, the Australian outback and the never-ending pampas of Argentina.
